Srinagar, May 20 (KNO): In Jammu and Kashmir more than 13 lakh students of government-run-schools are being provided perks of free textbooks and uniforms under the Right to Education Act.
An official said that under Right to Education, “At least eight lakh students of classes 1st to 8th are provided with the free uniform. The usual cost for the uniform is Rs 600 per child.”
Besides, the official according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “At least 5.50 lakh children of classes 3rd to 5th are provided with free textbooks.”
About the quality education and Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE), the official further said, “15,550 pre-primary sections of Kindergarten were started in schools of UT including the PM SHRI Schools.”
It also said that 13,804 AAYA and helpers stands engaged for these Pre-Primary Sections. “46 Model Kindergartens, have been constructed out of 188 Model Kindergartens.”
About the skill education the official further said, “Vocational Education has been implemented in 1350 schools including in PM SHRI Schools and it will be introduced in 554 schools.”
The official further mentioned that 2146 Vocational Trainers have been engaged and 1,34,000 students from class 9th to 12th are enrolled in 15 different trades.
“So far 1335 Vocational Labs have been established and 1915 more will installed in coming months,” the official said—(KNO)
